Surfing Became an Olympic Sport at the 2020 Olympic Games

Although surfing has a long and rich history, it was not included as an Olympic sport until the 2020 Games. The first-ever Olympic gold medalist in women's surfing was American surfer Carissa Moore from Hawaii, while Brazilian athlete Ítalo Ferreira claimed the gold for men.
